Martin South has acted and directed for the Tower Theatre Company for more than thirty years and has been its Artistic Director. He last appeared at Theatro Technis as Neddy Beagle in The Night Heron. Other recent acting roles for the Tower include Boolie Werthan in Driving Miss Daisy, the Player in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead, Benjamin Britten in The Habit of Art, Sackville in The Turn of the Screw and various roles including Patrick Brontë in Brontë. For other companies, he has recently appeared as Elyot Chase (Private Lives - Hemar Theatre), Eli Sham (Dirty Bird - Riot Act), Caius Cassius (Coverage - Riot Act) and Henry Bratsberg (The League of Youth - Riot Act).
This is Matthew Cranfield's second performance with the Tower, having previously paraded around in tights and leopard print as Lechery in Doctor Faustus. He is looking forward to playing the role of Henry, who couldn't be more different from that "mistress minx". Prior to acting with the Tower, Matt has appeared as Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream and Lear in King Lear at the University of Essex, and in a play called Again at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Ashleigh Togher is a new member of the Tower Theatre Company, and Love, Love, Love is her first Tower production. She studied English and Drama at Royal Holloway, University of London, where she mainly performed in musicals, including Into the Woods and Spring Awakening.
A recent graduate of the University of York, James Bowman is excited to be undertaking his first role with the Tower Theatre. Performing regularly in York's 'The Barn' and 'Upstage Theatre', previous roles include Victor Frankenstein / Creature in Frankenstein, Bobby in Company, and Macduff in Macbeth.
Simona Hughes joined the Tower in 2002, during its last year in its former Canonbury home, and has since served on the company committee and acted in some 13 productions, including Absent Friends, The Lady from the Sea, Julius Caesar, Dinner, Her Naked Skin, Baba Shakespeare and Comic Potential. Simona directed Brontë for the Tower last summer and has since directed a short play at Theatre503 as part of their Rapid Write Response series.
Later this year Simona will begin a Masters in Advanced Theatre Practice at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
